Roborock, the brand that’s been surging in popularity thanks to its super-smart robot vacuums, has entered the full-size vacuum arena with the introduction of Dyad, an all-in-one vacuum and mopping device.
Much like Roborock’s S7, Dyad combines powerful suction, multi-action scrubbing, and water-based cleaning in one intuitive cord-free unit.
Roborock sent me a Dyad to test out, and I’d like to show you how this device has changed the way I approach cleaning hard surfaces.

“Effortless” is the Main Theme of Dyad

If you’re at all familiar with Roborock devices, it should come as no surprise that Dyad is simple in both its setup and usage. All of the main components are fully assembled, so just insert the handle, plug in the charging base, and you’re ready to tackle those dirty floors.
Before each cleaning session, you just need to make sure the clean water tank is full, and the dirty water tank is empty.

Dyad’s battery lasts longer than I’m willing to continuously clean, which is about 35 minutes on the auto setting. A small but important detail: I like Dyad’s toggle power button, as opposed to a squeeze trigger, because I can loosely grip the handle however I want without needing to continuously hold down a button. This tiny aspect goes a long way in helping me exert the least amount of effort while operating the device.
In terms of general usage, that’s about it. Dyad doesn’t require a bunch of configuring or tinkering. A single button switches between three modes – auto, max, and drying mode – and the device will automatically shut off when the clean water tank is empty.

Fast Scrubbing Action with Each Pass

I thought my hardwood floors were pretty clean in general. I vacuum regularly and even hit it with the Swiffer WetJet on occasion. But after a single pass with Dyad, the difference between clean and cleaner could be both seen and felt.
My floor looked like a before-and-after image in a commercial with a visible demarcation line. The area where I had used Dyad looked brighter and felt smooth, while the untouched area had a hazy sheen on the surface and felt sort of greasy. The contrast was very apparent as I ran my fingers back and forth across the clean and unclean areas.

Dyad achieves this higher level of cleanliness by utilizing two independent motors to power three rollers – one in front, two side-by-side in the rear – and have them spin in opposite directions, essentially making each pass of the cleaning head twice as effective.
Speaking of the cleaning head, its nearly-borderless design and 180-degree articulation allow me to get right up against the wall and into the corners, maneuvering with precision using a simple twist of my wrist.
And during the cleaning process, Dyad continuously monitors dirtiness levels and will automatically increase water flow as well as suction power to combat tougher stains. An LED light bar on the main display changes to red to indicate that it’s detected a particularly dirty area.

When you have a particularly big spill, Dyad can be set to Drying Mode, transforming it into a light duty wet-vac, quickly sucking up liquid and any other particles into its 0.62 liter dirty water tank. As long as you don’t knock over a two-liter bottle of soda, the Dyad has plenty of capacity to handle most messes in the kitchen. For those needing a bit of extra oomph, Roborock offers a cleaning solution made by Unilever’s OMO brand that’s been specifically formulated for use with Dyad.

Simple Maintenance

When you’ve finished your cleaning run, simply place Dyad back on its base to begin charging, and a voice prompt will remind you to empty the dirty water tank.

The dirty water tank and filtration elements detach as a single unit, allowing you to quickly empty out the liquid while keeping any larger particles separate to be disposed of elsewhere. I shed a lot of long hair and don’t like sending it down the drain, so I really appreciated the tank’s removable catch basket trapping any clog-inducing debris.

If you notice the roller elements looking a bit dirty, Dyad includes a self-cleaning function – simply fill the clean water tank and press the self-clean button while docked. Roborock also included a cleaning brush along with a tool for cutting tangled hair off the rollers. With long hair like mine, this cutting tool has proved to be very useful!

Should You Buy the Roborock Dyad Wet/Dry Vacuum?

I don’t like to spend time on cleaning, but I do like a clean home. It’s a dilemma that many of us face, and Roborock’s Dyad wants to help solve that problem by delivering cleanliness in the quickest, easiest way possible so we can go back to the things that we actually enjoy.
Since my home consists entirely of hard floor surfaces, the Dyad is a perfect companion for my Roborock S7 as an intermittent deep cleaning solution. I let the S7 do the regular maintenance, and follow it up with the Dyad when I want that extra sparkle.
It’s also nice knowing that I don’t have to blow through half a roll of paper towels when a full glass of juice decides to jump off the counter.
For those with lots of floor surfaces and heavy traffic areas, I feel that Roborock’s Dyad is a worthwhile investment to make the mundane yet necessary act of mopping hard floors much faster and efficient.
