New Operator Sens Joins Rainbow Six Siege Year 7 Season 2

The second season of Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 7 content drops on June 7th with the launch of Operation Vector Glare, and with it, we’re getting a new attacker named Sens, as well as a bunch of other new features and updates.

Let’s start with Néon Ngoma Mutombo a.k.a. “Sens” (they/them), a “brilliant tactician from Belgium with military experience and training in psychology.” The keyword here is “tactician” because Sens comes with a loadout that really lets you execute a variety of strategies, by yourself for a flank move or with the team in an all-out assault.

Ubisoft

Most notably, Sens brings with them a new gadget, the R.O.U. Projector System. This small wheel rolls out and deploys a string of tiny light projectors to create an opaque screen that blocks players’ line of sight. The R.O.U. Projector System travels in a straight line for a fixed distance, but can bounce against walls to change directions. The light wall dissipates after a short period, but can be immediately countered by Operator abilities (e.g. Warden’s glasses) or destroyed during/after deployment by bullets or defender gadgets.

With a new POF-9 assault rifle and the 417 marksman rifle, Sens is a versatile Operator for the attacking team, especially since they carry a hard breach — talk about one-person army! I had an opportunity to preview Sens in action, and they really change up the team dynamics, offering more strategies for the entire team to sneak around and enter objective spaces. The R.O.U. Projector System can also be quite disorienting for the defenders because in the right spaces, you can box in an area with the light screen and cut off an Operator from the rest of their team. You can play some serious mind games here.

Year 7 Season 2 also features a new Team Deathmatch map called “Close Quarter.” Set in Greece, this exclusive map for Team Deathmatch mode offers fast-paced action with color-coded sections, destructible walls, and a variety of line of sight options that will have your head on a swivel. Gadgets and abilities aren’t available here, so you’ll need to choose your Operator carefully as it’ll determine health, speed, armor and weapon selection.

You’ll also find lots of quality of life updates, like a Shooting Range, an in-match Operator Guide, adjustable screen shake options for accessibility, and Phase 1 of the Reputation System, which doles out Reverse Friendly Fire across multiple matches until consistent good behavior is achieved.

Ready to dive into Year 7 Season 2 of Rainbow Six Siege? If you invite former teammates who haven’t played during Year 7, everyone will get rewards which range from new Year 6 Operators and new exotic weapon skins for yourself, and new Year 4 or Year 5 Operators plus other fallback rewards for your friends.

Plus, there will be a few more surprises along the way. I’m just gonna leave this video here…
