Reading Time: 2 minutesAfter spending $500 million on stripping The Office away from Netflix (much to the dismay of diehard fans), NBC has revealed the latest twist in their master plan. It seems that the entire streaming strategy for Peacock revolves around one show, The Office — and that’s reflected quite literally in Peacock’s pricing.
If you’re not entirely sure what Peacock even is, it is NBC’s new streaming service that features tons of shows and movies available to watch instantly. The service has recently acquired all nine seasons of the hit NBC comedy. And Peacock is capitalizing on this acquisition with a vengeance. Peacock has three different streaming tiers with different prices, and it explicitly states exactly how much of The Office you can watch based on how much cash you’re willing to pony up.

Peacock
The basic tier of Peacock is free, but it only includes the first two seasons of The Office. The next tier is Peacock Premium, which allows you to watch the entire series, including extended cuts of episodes featuring never-aired footage, for $4.99 a month. Alternatively, you can get a Peacock Premium annual package for $49.99 a year. The third tier is Peacock Premium Plus, which includes everything in the Premium tier, but with the added benefit of being the sole ad-free option for the service. Peacock Premium Plus costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Both the Peacock Premium and Premium Plus tiers also offer a seven-day free trial.
The people behind Peacock seem to be banking on The Office being able to boost streaming numbers. However, it’s generally not a great idea to subscribe to a service for a single show. If you’re only interested in watching The Office, you might be better off just buying a Blu-Ray set of all nine seasons. You can currently buy the complete box set off Amazon for $119.98, including free shipping. That’s only $20 more than an annual subscription to Peacock Premium Pro, and then you could watch The Office ad-free for the rest of your life.
Even More Streaming Options
If you’re looking for other streaming services to check out, you might want to try the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ streaming bundle. You can get full access to all three services for $12.99 a month. Or you can shell out $18.99 a month for the bundle that includes the ad-free version of Hulu.
