• The Toyota Cash Discount will deduct $20,000 from the MSRP.
• Your purchase is eligible for a $4,500 refund from the California Vehicle Rebate Project.
• Your purchase is eligible for an additional $8,000 Federal Tax Credit.
• Toyota will provide you with a Complimentary Fuel Card worth $15,000. The Fuel Card is valid for three years.

Toyota also offers a no-cost maintenance plan that covers your purchase for three years or 35,000 miles. You’ll also benefit from 24-hour roadside assistance for three years, regardless of how many miles you put on the Mirai.

What Exactly Is the 2021 Toyota Mirai?

As incredible as this offer is, the Toyota Mirai isn’t the perfect car for everyone. The biggest drawback to purchasing a Mirai is its reliance on hydrogen refueling stations — which are almost nonexistent outside of California. That means you won’t be taking your Mirai on many long-distance road trips, as you’ll be out of luck as soon as you cross the border. Traditional gas stations and even EV charging stations aren’t compatible with the Mirai, so you’re limited to driving around the Golden State and relying on its network of hydrogen refueling stations. It’s also not the most spacious of vehicles, with a lack of cargo space and a tight backseat.
But if you can look past those shortcomings, there’s a lot to love about the quirky car. Zero emissions, over 400 miles on a single tank, an estimated 74MPGe, available heads-up display that projects information to your windshield and a futuristic design make it stand out in the sea of cars on the 405. It’s not as versatile as the Prius or Tesla — as they have charging stations around the nation — but for your basic commute and occasional weekend adventure, the Mirai is an excellent choice with this new low price tag.

Comparing the Mirai To the Tesla 3 & Toyota Prius

The Mirai, Tesla 3 and Prius couldn’t be more different from each other. Not only do they all have different price tags, but they also require different types of fuel. Before you pull the trigger on the newly affordable Mirai, it’s worth taking a quick look at both the Prius and Tesla 3.

Fuel Type

While the Mirai uses the less common hydrogen cell, both the Prius and Tesla 3 offer a practical fuel source. The Tesla is powered by electricity, with EV charging stations located across the country. Meanwhile, the Prius is a traditional car that runs on gas — although an EV version is available. That makes both cars a more practical choice for buyers who are looking to take their vehicle beyond the sunny streets of California.

Mileage and MPG

All three cars put up incredible numbers when it comes to MPG. These numbers will vary based on your specific trim and driving style, but all of them are well above the rest of the market:
