CES 2022 is already off to an impressive start. That’s thanks in part to Samsung debuting the premium Odyssey Neo G8 curved monitor, which offers both a 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. What’s most exciting about it, however, is the 32-inch monitor’s 1000R curve, which is the same aggressive curvature found on the gigantic (and expensive) 49-inch Odyssey Neo G9.

According to Samsung, the Neo G8 is the “world’s first monitor to feature a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) 1000R curved screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.” Its overall design looks remarkably similar to that of the Neo G9, with a bright white exterior, dynamic lights on the back and a 2,000 nit peak brightness for an ultra-vivid image.

Pricing for the upcoming Odyssey Neo G8 is yet to be announced, but it’ll no doubt be one of the most expensive on the market. Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 49-inch monitor currently retails for $2,500 – and while it’s significantly larger than the new monitor, it lacks full 4K support.

Here’s a quick look at the Odyssey Neo G8’s spec sheet:

Odyssey Neo G8

  • 32-inch display
  • Quantum Mini LED technology
  • 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution
  • Aggressive 1000R curvature
  • Quantum HDR 2000
  • 2,000nit peak brightness

While the ultra-premium Odyssey Neo G8 was the star of Samsung’s CES 2022 monitor lineup, two other products were also introduced to the world. One of them was the slim Smart Monitor M8, which is nearly 75% thinner than the outgoing model. Its 32-inch display seems to be targeting the work-from-home crowd, with a minimalistic design that should fit on most workspaces and a movable magnetic camera for easy video calls.

Smart Monitor M8

  • 32-inch display
  • 11.4mm thickness
  • UHD panel
  • 400nit brightness
  • SmartThings control hub
  • Movable magnetic camera

The final reveal from Samsung was the High Resolution Monitor S8, which will be sold in 27-inch and 32-inch varieties. This professional display is intended for creators who need “the highest levels of accuracy and range” for their creative work.

High Resolution Monitor S8

  • 32-inch and 27-inch displays
  • VESA Display HDR 600 (32-inch)
  • VESA Display HDR 400 (27-inch)
  • “World’s First” Underwriter Laboratories verified Glare-Free monitor
  • USB Type-C 90W charging

Pricing for the three upcoming products is yet to be announced, although we expect to hear more about Samsung’s monitor lineup as CES 2022 continues.

Even though we don’t have pricing for the Neo G8, M8 or S8, there’s no doubt they’ll carry hefty price tags. So, if you’re in the market for a new monitor but don’t want to break your budget, consider one of these great monitors that are currently on sale.

Alienware is known for its high-end (and expensive) gaming gear, but one of its best monitors is currently available on Amazon with a discount of nearly $100. It boasts the same lightning-fast 240Hz refresh rate as the upcoming Neo N8 – although it lacks a curved screen and 4K resolution. Still, it’s hard to find a better gaming monitor for less than $300.

If you’re looking for an affordable monitor for your home office (and even a bit of gaming), consider this highly discounted product from Dell. Now available for just over $200, you’ll benefit from an impressive QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution, 75Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync for tear-free images. It even comes with some decent built-in speakers, making it a great all-in-one package that requires little free space on your desk.
