Grand Theft Auto V will be less expensive than expected when it launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next week, as new listings for the game reveal steep discounts that are running until June.
Grand Theft Auto V is finally launching for next-gen consoles on March 15th. But it comes as no surprise that listings for the game have started cropping up on various digital storefronts. What’s unexpected is the steep discount Rockstar is running. According to the new listings, Grand Theft Auto V will be discounted to just $10 on PS5 until June. Then, it will jump to its standard price of $40. Xbox fans will pay a bit more, asthe game is only discounted 50%dropping it to $20 on Xbox Series X|S. This discount all ends in June, so there’s plenty of time to cash in on the savings.
A similar promotion is available for Grand Theft Auto Online. It can be found on the Xbox Store for $10, down from $20.
Considering GTA V first launched in 2013, fans are surprised the upgrade isn’t being offered free to current owners. Grand Theft Auto Online, will be included with PlayStation Plus for three months.

While Grand Theft Auto V isn’t free on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, at least it’s getting a substantial rework to use the additional processing power. Graphic enhancements will be offered in three flavors. That includes Fidelity, Performance and Performance RT, which includes an assortment of HDR support, ray tracing and reduced load times.
PlayStation 5 will also benefit from the addition of 3D Audio and haptic feedback support.
All told, GTA V on next-gen consoles is promising to be a much better experience than the recently released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which saw a disastrous launch. Still, it’s frustrating to see Rockstar cashing in on GTA V nearly a decade after its official launch, especially when new games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon Forbidden West included a next-gen upgrade for free.
