For this generation of the Galaxy S series, you get four different sizes to choose from. The smallest of the lineup is the base version of the S20, though 6.2” is hardly diminutive. No matter which variant you choose, you can enjoy a brilliant AMOLED display with a high 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance will be rather similar between these different models, but you do get a bit more RAM for the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. This extra memory will be helpful for handling a multitude of tasks and is something to take into consideration if you’re a busy bee. Each device is also 5G compatible, so you can enjoy improved network speeds with any version of the device.

If affordability is a priority, this generation was the first time that Samsung introduced a “Fan Edition” or FE of their flagship phone. Despite its lower price, the S20 FE still offers some advantages over the base model, like a better Selfie camera, bigger battery, and larger screen.

On the opposite side of the price spectrum, you have the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Starting with a massive 6.9” screen and only getting better from there, it tops out every spec in this line of Galaxy S. While the original MSRP of this device was a little out of this world, the passage of time has brought it down to more affordable levels. But due to its discontinuation after the S21 release, it may be harder to find.

How to Get the Best Deals on the Samsung Galaxy S20

  • Wait for sales: Since the Samsung Galaxy S20 is relatively old in smartphone-world terms, you will hardly ever pay full price for it. The holidays in particular are a great time to get the best deals on a new device. Just be patient and keep an eye on your calendar!
  • Buy refurbished: Another way to get a good deal is by buying refurbished. Doing so always entails some risk, but as long as you do your research and purchase from reputable sources, you can greatly mitigate the chances of a bad egg.
  • Watch out for new releases: As we inch closer to another Samsung flagship smartphone reveal, we will also see the prices for the S20 and its variations drop. If you’re not into chasing the newest and shiniest things to arrive from Samsung, then you can expect to save a good amount of money on the older devices.
  • Leverage credit card sign-up bonuses: One of the least direct ways to save on an iPhone is to utilize a credit-card deal. These promos pop up all the time, and it’s likely that you’ve seen them before. They’ll often say “spend X amount of dollars in three months, and get Y back.” If you can hit the purchase requirements with a couple of Galaxy smartphones for the family, then you’ve essentially created your own discount.

Set a Deal Alert. There’s no doubt that constantly browsing for deals is hard work. And there is no certainty of when the next big sale will be. The best thing to do is set up a Deal Alert so the next time the Samsung Galaxy S20 goes on sale, you’ll be ready to strike.

Is the Samsung Galaxy S20 Outdated?

Though the Samsung Galaxy S20 is already a couple of years old, the company will still be providing security updates through 2024. This is part of the company’s promise to service select devices launched after 2019 for four years. Additionally, since the S20 is 5G enabled, it can also enjoy the speed and benefits of the ever-expanding 5G network.

Which Is Better, the Samsung Galaxy S21 or S20?

Even though the S20 is the predecessor of the S21, it can still hold its own in a couple ways. Starting with the display, the S20 actually features a higher resolution at 1440 x 3200 versus the S21’s 1080 x 2400. However, the more refined Galaxy S21 does offer higher brightness which can really help on those sunny days.

Both phones have the exact same camera hardware and battery, though the S21’s processor does come with improvements. One minor detail that can prove major in your decision is the inclusion of a wall charger for the S20. While the S21 is a better-performing phone overall, the “best bang for your buck” title could lean towards the Samsung Galaxy S20.

Does the Samsung Galaxy S20 Come with Headphone Jacks?

Unfortunately, the 3.5mm headphone jack is a relic of the past in the smartphone world. None of the Galaxy S20 models feature one. Samsung states that the reason it was removed was to provide the devices with bigger batteries. To use headphones, you have a few options. You can either get a 3.5mm headphone jack to USB-C adapter, opt for USB-C headphones, or go with wireless ones.

Does the Samsung Galaxy S20 Have a microSD Slot?

MicroSD slots have been a shining quality of Android devices over iPhones. It is a relatively inexpensive way to up the storage on your phone without dropping big bills. All models of the Galaxy S20 include a microSD slot and support sizes up to 1TB. You can find it by popping open your SIM tray.
