Reading Time: 3 minutesAccording to recent claims by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up to release tons of new products. Specifically, the “widest array of new hardware products in its history this fall.” The news comes from his Power On newsletter and stokes the flames for Apple lovers’ excitement about what’s to come.
Though 2021 was great for Apple in regard to its overall revenue earnings, its release lineup was fairly lackluster. As Gurman put it, upgrades to AirPods and iPhone 13 were nice, but nothing revolutionary.
In the past, Apple has been known to space out its new content throughout the year. This year is no different. The most fleshed-out new products are likely set to hit the markets in fall. But spring has some releases of its own.
If you weren’t thrilled with Apple’s 2021 lineup, 2022 may leave last year in the dust. Get ready to check out one of the biggest, most diverse product lineups of all time.
What Will We See in the Fall?
According to Gurman’s newsletter, we can expect to see a wide array of new products. There are also some fresh upgrades hitting the market in the fall as well as some newcomers. Gurman explains we can expect “four new iPhones, a low-end MacBook Pro, an updated iMac, the new Mac Pro, a revamped MacBook Air, an AirPods Pro upgrade, three Apple Watches, a low-end iPad and iPad Pros.”
The iPhones in question would likely consist of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Pro phones are rumored to be upgrading to a hole-punch camera cutout for a larger display. That means they’d be ditching the typical notch at the top of the screen.
The new watches are likely going to be the Series 8, SE and Rugged. Hopefully they’ll be equipped with new health monitoring features that Apple has hinted ar. According to MacRumors, the Series 8 could come equipped with car crash detection and the Rugged would be geared toward extreme usage.
Gurman anticipates that if Apple wanted to bring its M1 chip to another Mac, there is a chance we could see an upgraded iMac released in the first half of the year, though Apple’s general release timeline likely puts it in the fall with the rest of the major new hardware.
Spring Has New Products of its Own
Even though the most exciting releases are tentatively scheduled for fall, that’s not to say you have to wait until then for some upgraded Apple gear. The tech giant is reportedly planning an event for March or April with somewhat more minor products and upgrades than what’s to come later in the year.
According to Gurman, it’s pretty much guaranteed that we will see a new iPhone SE released at the spring event, fully equipped with 5G support and a faster processor than the current model. He expects a new iPad Air could potentially be included in the lineup as well, considering it hasn’t had an upgrade since the end of 2020 and is due for a revamp.
Fans of the iPad Pro may be disappointed to hear that Gurman finds it unlikely that an upgraded model will be ready in time for the spring. He expects the newer model to come equipped with the M2 chip, wireless charging and a new design, which will probably take some more time to develop than the spring.
The crazy array of products set to hit the market this year is cause for excitement, though we won’t know for sure which products will make it to the finish line until the release date has arrived.
