Trust me. I am a working, homeschooling parent of three, running a household for a family of five, and I often find a grocery run and meal prep time get moved to the lower end of my priority list. Yet, all of the people in my house still want to eat five times a day, so using Walmart+ has been essential.

Why I Have an Obsession with Walmart+
When Walmart pickup services were offered to my neighborhood store three years ago, I switched the majority of my grocery shopping to my local Walmart store. I was even more excited when Walmart offered delivery from the store to my door. Then recently they sweetened the deal even more with the launch of Walmart+ which is a different kind of membership helping me get even more out of life by saving me time on top of already great everyday low prices. Walmart+ offers members who sign up free unlimited deliveries, along with access to the scan & go mobile app for in-store shopping as well as member prices on fuel at Walmart, Murphy’s and soon Sam’s Club.
I now order my groceries while watching Netflix.
Here’s my confession: I don’t like grocery shopping or cooking. And running out to get fast food for my family every night is even more costly and time-consuming –and not even my preferred choice for feeding everyone daily. Between shopping, meal planning and cooking, I was spending 15 hours a week (2 full workdays!) just trying to keep my family fed, and that doesn’t even include mealtime itself.

So, I wanted to minimize my efforts on the food front while still keeping my family happy and healthy. To achieve that, I now use an online menu planning service to quickly add items from the app’s many meal shopping lists into my Walmart app and schedule my delivery for the next morning. It takes me 10 minutes—while I’m watching Netflix! Psst…there are plenty of free meal plans and grocery lists online if you want to take that path too. I highly recommend it!
For breakfasts, lunches and snacks, I also have all of my weekly staples saved as favorites on the Walmart app now. All I have to do now is click the favorites icon and quickly add my usuals without hunting them down online or in-store. Then, it’s time to choose a delivery time that works with my family’s schedule. And as a member of Walmart+, as long as my delivery is $35 or more — and they always are for a family of five – there is no delivery fee to even think about or account for in my weekly grocery budget.

Ways Walmart+ Free Unlimited Delivery Saved Me When I Needed It Most
You get it now—using Walmart+ for parents and families saves time and money when it comes to shopping. But the service is so much more and offers so much convenience for busy families like mine (and will for yours, too, I am sure). Last-minute birthday presents are easy now
So many drive-by birthday parties this year! Thankfully Walmart+ has several affordable and fun toys that can be ordered through its delivery service. Don’t forget to add a party bag and tissue paper to your cart too. You can also shop presents for adult birthdays, baby showers and bridal showers.
Walmart’s party decorations keep my kids’ spirits up
Even in lockdown, it’s been fun to celebrate my kids’ birthdays with balloons, streamers and decorative plates.
Always ready for an art project and school day prep
We do a lot of crafts, science experiments and school projects. We are always running out of supplies, so I rely on Walmart+ to help me stay prepped for the school day.
Walmart+ is my holiday helper this year
Last year, I used Walmart delivery services for almost all of my hosting and gifting needs so that I could avoid the crowds. How much is Walmart+?
After your free Walmart Plus 15-day trial courtesy of Walmart, you can pay $12.95 per month for Walmart+ or $98 per year. Go for the yearly membership, and save over $57! Even if you only use Walmart+ 12 times throughout the year (once per month), it will still cost less per delivery than the $12.95 per month price.
Is a tip included in deliveries?
The cost of Walmart+ does not include a tip for your delivery person, so you can and should tip your driver an additional amount per delivery. Tipping is easy through the app, and 100% of the tip goes to your delivery person. While there are several suggested amounts, you can also customize the tip to the driver to suit your personal budget and preference.

What if my item is out of stock?
Before you checkout, you can choose to have any, all or none of your items substituted. On the whole, Walmart employees do try their best to substitute a missing item with a comparable or better item. According to the Walmart+ website, you’ll also be alerted before your delivery and can request a substitution when you place your grocery order. I have been happy with most of the substitutions I have experienced so far and ended up getting what I need, even if not an exact match. Walmart+ customer service is also amazing and will right any mistakes, food quality issues or poor substitute choices.
