To celebrate the release of the new free-to-play game Roller Champions, Ubisoft sent me a create-your-own helmet kit complete with lettering, sponsor stickers, and fun accessories. It’s a fitting gift because character customization and self-expression is a big part of the game.

You can unlock and equip unique hairstyles, outfits, gloves, skates, and much more. And there’s a chance to show off your character after each goal you score thanks to the game’s un-skippable instant replay feature. Don’t forget to emote after you score so it makes the highlight reel!

Before I started designing my helmet, I fired up Roller Champions and just let it sit on the main menu because it’s got a bangin’ soundtrack featuring licensed music from popular artists you might recognize. There’s a jukebox feature so you can see what’s playing and skip or browse tracks. Now that I’ve got the tunes going, let’s start designing my helmet!

The first thing I had to do was make sure that my gamer tag was on the back of the helmet, so my competition will know who just tackled them to the floor. (Look for me on Ubisoft Connect!)

A light up rhino horn? How do I say no to that?!

Purple is my favorite color, and I have long hair too so the twin tails are a must-have accessory.

And we can’t forget about our sponsors! These are the actual “brands” you’ll find in the game itself so it’s a nice touch of authenticity.

I can’t get enough of UMiSAN’s chopsticks-wielding, sombrero-wearing taco octopus!

What do you think? Am I ready to hit the arenas of Roller Champions? It’s a pretty cutesy-mean-looking helmet, if I do say so myself!

Should any Roller Champions devs be reading this: It’d be awesome if you could make my helmet available in the game! Maybe a design studio can be part of the next game update? Ha!
