Reading Time: 2 minutesPlayStation’s State of Play on March 9th only ran for about 20 minutes. Still, it was jam-packed with game reveals and announcements. Much of the presentation was dedicated to games arriving in 2022, although it did show off one exciting title to look forward to next year.
From a new Capcom and Gundam game to co-op Returnal and more, here’s every announcement from PlayStation’s latest State of Play.
Capcom Announces Exoprimal With Dinosaur-Filled Trailer
It’s not Dino Crisis, but Exoprimal might be the next best thing. Shown off for the first time during the State of Play, Exoprimal is a brand-new sci-fi shooter from Capcom. The action-packed trailer was short on details, but we saw more than a few monstrous dinosaurs and the overpowered weapons players will use to bring them down. It looked a bit like Warframe for the first few minutes, but Exoprimal is one to keep your eye on. The game is slated for a 2023 release.
Forspoken Reveals New Gameplay Footage
Forspoken is one of the most anticipated games of 2022. Sony spent a good chunk of time revealing more of its mysterious world. The title was recently delayed to Octobe. The new footage didn’t make the long wait any easier. You can check out its sprawling world and brutal combat in the two-minute trailer below.
Trek to Yomi is a Stylized Samurai Side-Scroller
Developed by Leonard Menchiari and Flying Wild Hog, Trek to Yomi is a stylized samurai game being published by Devolver Digital. Those are the same folks responsible for Loop Hero, Carrion and Fall Guys. Trek to Yomi revolves around its visceral melee combat, set in a black-and-white, side-scrolling world.
Returnal Adding Cooperative Missions and Survival Mode
Returnal: Ascension is a free update for the game arriving on March 22nd. It’s set to add a cooperative campaign and a new survival mode: The Tower of Sisyphus. This gives you the chance to face off against enemies in increasingly difficult waves. It won’t be accessible to new players, as you’ll first need to unlock the Icarian Grapnel. Expect to learn more in the days leading up to launch.
