It looks like Google is making its fans wait even longer for the Google Pixel 6a phone and Pixel Watch. According to a tweet from leaker Jon Prosser, the Pixel 6a’s release date has been pushed backto late July. Similarly, the Pixel Watch is likely to follow suit.
As initial rumors were pretty set on the release date being May 26th, Prosser speculates in his tweet that the delay of the Pixel 6a could be a result of the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage. While Prosser’s source is only speculating thus far that the Pixel Watch will face a similar delay, there’s still a chance it may come out in May as planned.
As we mark our calendars for late July, we can take a look at what other rumors are spreading about the upcoming tech in the meantime.

Rumored Features of the Pixel 6a

While we’re still waiting for Google to confirm details about the Pixel 6a, we already have a good idea about some key specs thanks to leaker Max Weinbach. By default, the phone will reportedly have 128GB of storage, which is the same as what was offered with the Pixel 5a.
Weinbach also provided insights into three different colors the phone will be released in: black, white or green options. This variety of options is an upgrade from what we were offered with the Pixel 5a, which was only offered in black. According to some images of a metal dummy unit shared by leaker xleaks7, the phone appears to take on a similar design to the Pixel 6. While these images remain somewhat questionable, it would make sense for the Pixel 6a to follow in the footsteps of the Pixel 6.
The Pixel 6a is also set to be a more affordable followup to the Pixel 6, with Tom’s Guide estimating a price point around $449 depending on what chip the phone will be equipped with.

What Will Google’s First Smartwatch Look Like?

The mysterious Pixel Watch has been the talk of the town for some time now, with rumors abound for years about when Google would finally join the wearable smartwatch market.
Weinbach shared some details about the Pixel Watch in the same leak mentioned earlier that indicate the tech will be available in gray, black or gold options equipped with 32GB of storage. That storage capacity is nothing to scoff at, as it would put the watch in competition with the capabilities of the latest Apple Watch 7.
According to renders shared by Prosser, the watch is also reportedly set to have a round face and sleek, minimalist appearance. He shared that it also may have changeable bands that are unique to the Pixel Watch.
Weinbach’s leaked information came from code names found in an unidentified mobile carrier’s inventory management system, which could offer some hints as to the product’s potential.
He noted that because this carrier only ever sells cellular-connected watches, it could be a sign the Pixel Watch will have a cellular version. This would line up with some rumors back in 2018 by WinFuture that indicated the watch could be released in three different versions, but these are pretty old speculations so we can’t be positive they’re true.
Only time will tell when the Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch will finally be ready for release, but if we’re lucky, they’ll hopefully hit the markets sooner rather than later.
